in todays lesson (8th October) i fineshed my preliminary front cover of the school magazine. i will now ask for it to be looked at and be given any pointers on how to improve.

Evaluation
I will be evaluating my magazine and contents page. I will be looking at how it both follows and deviates from the codes and conventions of a magazine. I will also talk about how I could have improved my magazine.

My media project both follows and deviates from the codes and conventions of a magazine as I have included a large masthead, this stands out well and follows the colour scheme of my magazine and also appeals to my target audience. On my front cover I have my positioning statement, date and issue number at the top by my title. This is what the codes and conventions say, I followed them so my target audience will see them and recognise straight away that it’s a magazine from the setting. I challenged the codes and conventions on my front cover with my central image as there is not direct mode of address. I did this as I didn’t want it to look too confident as it was meant to be a new student also I thought that I did have to include one challenge that’s goes against the codes and conventions. When using quark to create my contents page I found it easier not to include the guidelines as this made the design I wanted to achieve harder.

To make my magazine and contents page I used Photoshop and QuarkXPress. I used Photoshop on the front page and Quark on the contents page. I found Photoshop easier than Quark as Quark was a new programme and we had been using Photoshop longer. I found it quite difficult getting the hang of quark.
Compared to my sketches my final project was completely different. My titles changes along with a number of other things like the contents etc.
Overall I am happy with my project. If I would improve I could try to include a little more on my front cover. I chose not to clutter my front cover but resulted in a lot of unfilled space.
